SELECTION SCHEME

AUBRAC

Vache Aubrac avec son veau dans un près

The Aubrac breed selection scheme for insemination bulls is based on a partnership between AURIVA and the OS Aubrac. This system enables us to provide breeders with reliably evaluated bulls resulting from a collective and demanding selection process. In this way, they have access to a wide range of broodstock that are vectors of genetic progress in line with breed objectives.

The two key stages in this process are evaluation at the La Borie breeding station and on-farm IBOVAL progeny evaluation.

Males born on
breeding farms
are candidates for
station recruitment.
Alongside the Aubrac Union
technicians in charge
of selecting them, the
AURIVA technicians
catalyze and support
the entry into the station
of males identified as
particularly
interesting for AI :
15 calves are then
proposed for the
evaluation tools.

These young males are
presented on the new
AI catalog.
They can then be used
in a small volume
for their evaluation
on IBOVAL progeny
at weaning and then for
maternal traits.

At the end of the
evaluation and the
qualification of the males
evaluated, the young bulls
sorting commission
for AI, composed of
breeders and technicians
meets.
It determines who
will be selected to join
the AI catalog according to
their control results
and their interest in
breeders in line with
racial objectives.
