GAEC LA FERME DES BARTHES is located in the commune of Labastide Clairence in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department.
Today, with 2.5 UTH, the GAEC produces 680,000 liters of milk, of which 300,000 liters are delivered to the local Bastidarra dairy and 380,000 liters to the Savencia dairy in Jurançon. The 62 Prim Holstein dairy cows are milked by robot, with an average production of 10,771 kg of milk at 39.7 TB and 33.8 TP. The cows are kept in stalls with cubicles. The UAA covers 80 hectares. For the future, the partners are planning to build a cheese dairy to produce soft cheeses.
With the work organization in place, the members of the GAEC can free up their free time and only work 1 weekend out of 2. The AUTONOM range is perfectly suited to the needs of this farm.
Indeed, limbs, functionality, milking and ease of birth are all important criteria for the farm. The choice of bulls is of great importance to optimize robotized milking, with particular attention paid to the following indexes: DPJ (distance between hock and pastern), LT (teat length) and teat implantation.
Here, all heifers are genotyped by the cooperative’s services, enabling the best to be bred for the AURIVA creation program. The farm also uses the YPERIOS cross (notably the bulls in the #Sécurisez OZIRIS and ORUS range), as the trader appreciates the development of the calves for sale at 4 weeks of age.

Genetically, the herd includes daughters of bulls such as OFFREDO, JOBLACK, LIWAY, JAYVANO and NEWSTAR with high production levels such as :
► RAINETTE, daughter of OXFORD x ALLSTAR who produced in 1st lactation 8702 kg of milk in 279 days at 42.1 TB and 33.2 TP
► SHAKIA, daughter of OFFREDO x KP CARTER who produced in 1st lactation 10,803 kg of milk in 331 days at 36.8 TB and 31 TP
► NAOMIE, daughter of JOBLACK x MORGAN who in 4th lactation produced 12,576 kg milk in 350 days at 43.1 TB and 33.1 TP
Among heifers, the most represented origins are SUMMUM, SHERLOCK, SITLO, SKATER, ROSARIO and ROSSO RED.
The last nugget of the breeding program is UGUETTE born in June 2023 (daughter of ROHIRIM x POULIDOR) at 214 ISU points and due to be collected in summer 2024.
