6 November 2024Genetic variability, original lines… the diversity and renewal of our sire offer is at the heart of the work carried out within the Blonde d’Aquitaine scheme. Take a look at the examples of PONT AVEN and ROD to discover how exceptional new lines are born.
PONT AVEN - ORIGINALITY AND BREED QUALITIES
PONT AVEN was born at David BASSET’s AGRI BLONDES breeding farm in Côtes-d’Armor (22). He is the 1st male of LIVEBOX (FABULEUX/ARAMIS), an MTE-qualified cow, and the bull MARVELOUS (EMIR JPM/HIBERNATUS).
The maternal line goes back to the TURNER cow, head of the Lorinquer breeding farm (22). David BASSET purchased AURIVA embryos from the TURNER and ARAMIS mating, which also produced the bull GINKGO. A winning bet for David, who will produce three females, including GALAXIE, the grand dam of PONT AVEN, and GASPESIE, the dam of TRISKELL, a bull engaged this year in progeny confirmation testing.
GALAXIE bred to FABULEUX (TRIO/ULHANE), a bull with a highly original pedigree also from an AURIVA embryo, will produce the cow LIVEBOX. She is scored 80 A and indexed at 115 for Milk and 122 for IVMAT.
PONT AVEN is the fruit of a singular mating thanks to the originality of his maternal line and the neutrality of his sire’s side. In fact, MARVELOUS is a natural breeding bull born on the Sazy farm. This fine, well-bred bull is used on cows and heifers. He is the son of the famous UNIQUE, a daughter of HIBERNATUS who is also the dam of the famous FRIPON, MALIEN and NOREPERE, bulls with neutral origins.
Using PONT AVEN will enable you to introduce the genetics of the combination of these two original lines. His production is highly homogeneous, distinguished by a great deal of mix, finesse and breed qualities. His indexes are almost all positive and complete, and his 103 birth ease makes him suitable for use on heifers of good size and on all types of cows.
ROD - ORIGINALITY AND PERFORMANCE
ROD was born at the MICHAUD brothers’ GAEC BARAUDERIE in Deux-Sèvres (79). ROD is a son of JABU and INTERLUDE (FAUCON / VICTOR), a very pretty cow who stands out in the herd for her mixed-meat format and very good indexes (109 IFNAIS, 116 Milk and 121 IVMAT). She combines her high-flying indexes with a remarkable career, with an IVV of 365 days in 8 calvings. Etienne MICHAUD explains: “INTERLUDE is a head of the herd, and has produced some lovely calves for us, recruited at the station. ROD was a very handsome calf who far surpassed the lot recruited, combining an original pedigree with a solid accumulation of maternal qualities”.
INTERLUDE was chosen by the AURIVA technical team to be mated in this program, in view of her good production results, her indexes and the genetic originality of her pedigree. Mating with JABU combines maternal qualities, size and muscular bursts, while maintaining birth rates over 100. At the same time, the combination of JABU/FAUCON/VICTOR brings a great deal of neutrality to the assembly.
