The industry and local breeds project

The local Abondance and Tarentaise breeds are historically present in the Savoie region and are linked to the PDO-IGP cheese chains. Today, it is essential to improve communication between breeds and the cheese industry, in order to reconcile the evolution of breeds with the needs of different users (breeders...), cheese makers...). By 2022, OS RAR, CAP Tarentaise, AFTALP, ILS, CERAQ and AURIVA have decided to implement the "Local breeds and the Savoie PDO-IGP cheese industry" project, which will take place in 5 actions, until 2024.

Limiting unproductivity!

Mathias and Jean-Pierre CHARRETIER farm 90 hectares in DUERNE (69), a commune at an altitude of 850 meters in the heart of the Monts du Lyonnais. They produce 700,000 liters of milk and sell 35 crossbred heifers and steers a year. 30 Ha of arable land are planted with corn, barley and temporary grassland, with the remainder in rotational grazing for dairy heifers. The furthest plots are reserved for butchering animals.

Rates, requirements and time!

With a final balance of 10,420kg at 41 TB and 34 TP, GAEC Lait 2 Makearest is No. 10 on PHF's top TP list. And if this ranking is so good, it's because in the heart of the Basque Country, in MACAYE, the association of Patxi Funosas and Philippe Ibar, two neighbors, has been working perfectly well since 2010.
